Did we mention how pretty Blue Ridge is when it snows? Winter is THE BEST time to experience nature in a way that feels surreal! Here are a few of our favorite outdoorsy things that we simply cannot get enough of this time of the year:
Hiking
Blue Ridge is filled with hiking trails that have everything from deep forests, trickling streams and waterfalls, and even some with mountain views if you’re willing to do a little detour!
Some of our personal favorites is the Benton MacKaye Trail. This trail has other popular trailheads like fall branch falls, long creek trails, and The Swinging Bridge Trail! And if you’re staying at our cabin Above The Clouds, you’ll have a convenient and easy access to it!
Mountain Biking
Blue Ridge has tons of mountain biking loops like Long Branch Loop , Stanley Gap, and the Aska Trails. Don’t have a bike but want to give mountain biking a shot? Blue Mountain Bikes has tons you can rent, plus more insider info on the best trails for your experience level!
Off-Roading
Like hiking, off-roading is a magical experience this time of the year. With the trails being empty, the rugged forests are your playground! To find the best off-roading trails try On x Maps!

If you want to feel like the main character in a Hallmark movie, then get ready for some seriously cozy cabin vibes. What’s really special about Blue Ridge is how the cabins are set in some of the prettiest scenes that you get to enjoy all to yourself. Imagine wine by the fireplace, your favorite movie and seeing snow fall on the pines outside your window!

Nothing is cozier than a glass of wine by the fireplace or some good craft beer after a stroll through the snow-capped town! Our personal fave for wine is 34th Degree and if you’re looking for a good brew Grumpy Old Men Brewery serves the best in town!

If you’re a true foodie, you’re going to have the time of your life here! Blue Ridge may be a small town, but it is packed with flavor! Some of the most popular local spots are The Rum Cake Lady , The General Ledger , and Poke Jons (you need to check out their tik-easy!)
